Sources of Noise
If you are sensitive to noise either at night or during the day while you are working then please take the following things into consideration when you select a home --
Ourdoor Equipment
Where are the outside units located for the heaters, heat pumps, air conditioning, pumps, pool equipment, etc. Are they right outside your bedroom window? Chances are that they will kick on with a noise that might disturb your sleep. You may become accustom to these noises over time, but they may continue to be a problem if they are only on occasionally such as pool equipment.
Our Pool pump runs all night if the air temperature gets less than 35 degrees. It is really loud and located right on the outside wall by the head of our bed in the Master Bedroom. We will not make this design mistake again! The pool equipment will be outside a garage wall or some other position away from bedroom areas.
Outdoor Animals
A home in a natural setting can be wonderful and stress releiving when you come home at night. But, do you know how loud frogs are around a golf course pond? During certain times of the year the chorus is deafening!
In California our new home was on the outskirts of a town close to the hills in a new development. We would be awakened in the middle of the night to coyotes howling in chorus, and at several times of the year to gun fire in the early morning depending on the hunting season!
Birds, Crickets and other insects can also make a lot of noise at certain times of the year. The more vegetation, trees or water surrounding your home the more likely it is that you will have outdoor noise issues.
